The Australian Security Research Centre is a think tank on domestic security and disasters. The Centre undertakes independent, evidence-based analysis of both traditional and evolving security, and disaster issues. Its core activities are:

The Centre has three programs:

  • Domestic Security, Disaster Management and Resilience Program
  • Climate Change Adaptation and Infrastructure Program
  • Pandemic Program

The Centre's 2009 priority areas are:

  • Integrating climate change adaptation into emergency services and infrastructure organisations as a result of climate change
  • Enhancing resilience of communities, organisations and individuals
  • Analysing new security threats including pandemics, energy security and economic security
  • Enhancing the domestic use of defense forces
  • Integrating psycho-social care into emergency response and disaster management
